Botox vs Dysport: what are the differences?
Botox is used to soften wrinkle lines caused by the movement of muscles used for facial expressions.
When the muscle contracts and moves, it causes the skin in the area to buckle and crease. This damage to the skin fibers overtime causes lines to form even when no facial expression is being made.
Some patients desire a more frozen look! Some do not. When many patients are new to botox treatments, they worry they will get “too much” and end up with an undesired frozen or artificial look. But how much botox is “too much?” Before you can determine how much botox is “too much,” you must know how much is usually required and how much is “not enough.”
In order to soften the wrinkle lines, the muscle must receive enough botox to cause it to relax. Botox is dosed in units, much like how insulin is dosed, with each muscle typically requiring a standard number of units to cause relaxation. Sometimes when you’re afraid of doing “too much,” you end up doing “too little.”
An inadequate treatment with not enough botox will give you an inadequate result. Under-treatment not only fails to achieve the desired effect, it also wastes your time and money, and gives the false perception the botox “didn’t work.” An experienced injector can give you an idea of the number of units needed to achieve your desired look.
